Frequently Asked Questions:
Are Intel 12th, 13th, and 14th Gen processors compatible with the same motherboards?
Yes! All three generations use the Intel LGA 1700 socket. This means they are compatible with Intel 600-series (like B660 or Z690) and 700-series (like B760 or Z790) motherboards. However, if you are putting a 13th or 14th Gen processor into an older 600-series motherboard, you will likely need a BIOS update first. If you buy both from us, our team can flash the BIOS for you before shipping or during our doorstep installation in Mumbai.
What do the “F” and “K” letters mean at the end of Intel processor names?
An “F” (like the Core i5-13400F) means the processor does not have integrated graphics; you must plug your monitor into a dedicated graphics card for your PC to work. A “K” (like the Core i7-14700K) means the processor is “unlocked” for overclocking and generally runs at higher base clock speeds, but it requires a Z-series motherboard to fully overclock. A “KF” simply means it is unlocked for overclocking and lacks integrated graphics.
Do I need to buy an aftermarket cooler for my Intel processor?
If you are buying any Intel processor with a “K” or “KF” in the name (like a 13600K or 14900K), it does not come with a stock cooler in the box. Because these chips draw significant power and generate a lot of heat, you must purchase a high-quality tower air cooler or an AIO liquid cooler. Standard non-K processors (like the i5-12400 or i3-13100) do include an Intel stock cooler, though we still recommend an aftermarket cooler for heavy gaming during warm Mumbai summers.
What is Intel’s “Hybrid Architecture” (P-Cores and E-Cores)?
Starting with the 12th Gen, Intel divided its processor cores into two types. Performance-cores (P-Cores) handle heavy, demanding tasks like gaming and 3D rendering. Efficient-cores (E-Cores) handle background tasks like Discord, browser tabs, and system updates. This allows your PC to multitask incredibly well without slowing down your game.
